Irrigated Rice Research Consortium

The Irrigated Rice Research Consortium (IRRC) was formed in 1997 funded by the Swiss Development Corporation. A meta-impact assessment after 16 years of implementation shows that investing US$ 12 million in the activities of the consortium resulted to $70 million benefits to rice farmers and national economies.

The IRRC continues as a partnership mechanism of the Global Rice Science Partnerships (GRiSP) and as a platform for several projects including Closing Rice Yield Gap with Reduced Environmental Footprint (CORIGAP). CORIGAP will develop best management practices for rice to support certification of farmers who implement good agricultural practices or GAP.
